Local media landscape changes in wake of cutbacks and sales
CBC recently announced cutbacks across the country while Glacier Media and Black Press in December announced a deal to swap more than a dozen community newspapers and digital titles in British Columbia. Prof. David Black discusses the changes and the future of media in Canada with C-FAX host Ian Jessop.
"What's crystalized these changes in the last week are two pieces of information that are allowing us to put together the puzzle that is the emergent media system," Black says. "We're undergoing an historic, even revolutionary, change and it really depends where you're looking; it is tumbrels passing before your eyes on the way to the guillotine or is it a glorious utopia that's about to emerge?"
