How hard is it to live off the grid?
Canada Research Chair in Innovative Learning and Public Ethnography Dr. Phillip Vannini was interviewed Feb. 15 by Ellen Fanning of the Australian Broadcasting Corporation about what he learned during production of his documentary Life Off Grid.
Here is an excerpt:
“For many of us being involved in the way our house works is not exactly second nature,” says Vannini. “We flick on a switch, we flush the toilet and we sort of forget where things go and where they come from and so when you live off the grid, you actually have to take into account where things come from and where they go because if you’re using too much or you don’t dispose of it properly, then you’re in big trouble.”
Life Off Grid recently played in Melbourne.
