Canada's political oratory
School of Communication and Culture Associate Prof. David Black was interviewed by Frank Stanford on CFAX about Canadian political oratory and the party leaders’ acceptance and concession speeches on election night.
Here is an excerpt:
“We’ve been lacking for some time now an orator and I’m not sure if we have that person yet – I think we have yet to listen to Prime Minister Trudeau speak for himself and establish a rhetorical personality,” says Black. “But, I think there are some good signs from his acceptance speech last night that we can look forward perhaps to certainly an improvement in how the Canadian political leadership speaks to us and invokes the issues in our country.”
