B.C. auditor general makes government communication recommendations

School of Communication and Culture Prof. David Black spoke with C-FAX host Ian Jessop about B.C. auditor general's recommendation that the province needs a general policy that explicitly prohibits the use of partisan political information in public government communications, provides guidelines and makes sure the policy is adhered to. This is an update on a 1996 report addressing public interest communications from the government and partisan communications. 

Black explains: "What this update does is reaffirm the need for guidelines, canvasses the country and looks at best practices - notably in Ontario and Alberta - and reinforces the point it made in 1996, which is let's keep partisan and ordinary public communication separate."
